Instruction Stream: NCCP Instruction Intermediate - Primary STARSkate

Entry Pre-Requisites:
1. Must have attained CanSkate Coach status or higher
2. Completed all three Junior Bronze STARSkate tests

Training Requirements:
1. Completed Primary STARSkate Coach Home Study successfully
2. 3-day Primary STARSkate Figure Skating course successfully
3. Hold a valid First Aid certificate (every three years)

Evaluation Requirements for trained status:
1. Teach one 15-minute lesson in front of a Mentor Coach
2. Complete (three) daily assignments successfully

Certification Requirements for certified status:
Pre-requisite: Must have completed the PSC Home Study and be registered as a Skate Canada Professional Coach:
1. Teach primary STARSkate for 50 hours in Skate Canada member clubs and;
2. Submit three different 15-minute video lessons at the primary (preliminary or junior bronze) STARSkate level. The video that is one VHS tape or one DVD only must include the following lessons:
- One 15-minute mandatory stroking or skating skills lesson and;
- Two additional 15-minute lessons based on the following selection: Jump, Spin, Interpretive Skating, Dance, Synchronized Skating, Pairs

Instruction Stream: NCCP Instruction Intermediate - Intermediate STARSkate

Entry Pre-Requisites:
1. Completed Primary STARSkate Coach Home Study
2. Completed 3-day Primary STARSkate Figure Skating course

Training Requirements:
1. Intermediate STARSkate/Provincial Coach (ISPC) Home Study
2. ISPC Training (5 days): Sport Science, Stroking & Skating Skills, Singles, Dance, and Pairs & Synchronized Skating
3. Valid First Aid course (every three years)

Requirements for Intermediate STARSkate Coach "Trained" Status:
1. Completion of Home Study, Sport Science, Stroking & Skating Skills, Singles, Dance, and Pairs & Synchronized Skating Workbooks
Requirements for Intermediate STARSkate Coach "Certified" Status:
1. Video Lessons:
- Submit one (1) technical video lesson with a lesson plan at the senior bronze or junior silver STARSkate level and;
- Submit one (1) stroking or skating skills video lesson with a lesson plan at the senior bronze or junior silver STARSkate level.
2. Video Analysis and Music CD/Cassette: Must submit a video analysis and music CD or cassette tape of a skater whose program you have designed or choreographed at the Intermediate STARSkate level.
3. Have skaters pass intermediate STARSkate tests or higher OR complete the mentorship program. A copy of the test summary sheet for each test passed must be submitted with your Practical Coaching Record Form
